Through this workshop Tara will introduce her project Mishandled Archive and discuss her methods of engaging with a collection of family photographs and documents through a 365-day artwork which has led to the creation of a performance and a book.

You will be offered exercises to rethink your own personal or family archives and histories and the ways you might engage with long kept photographs, letters, other ephemera and what you recall from these.

Reactivating these materials and the fragments of memories associated with them is not only an act of remembrance but a recognition of the flaws of memory and of how history is narrated.

Together we will create new collective memories and turn our personal histories into collective actions.

 

Suitable for ages 18 and over.
