How do we dance an archive? How do we remember, keep or forget?

This outdoor performance installation unfolds and expands the encounters, dances and images of Tara’s book, Mishandled Archive*, and the year-long daily practice that created it. Performed with the participation of local contributors, an immersive flow of disrupted movements and fragmentary storytelling, brings us together to rethink notions of belonging, remembering and travelling.

Dances, music, songs, hundreds of old and new photographs, foreign languages, blossoms and stories that are too difficult to be told come together to create this poetic choreographic exploration of how an archive and its histories can be embodied in everyday sites.

Mishandled Archive started in 2017: Every day, for 365 days. Tara Fatehi placed fragments from her collection of family photos and documents in unexpected public places and made new photographs and a dance before leaving each piece.

This event will take place outdoors in a public park in the centre of Nottingham. Exact details of the meeting place will be shared 3 days before the event.

*The book, Mishandled Archive is a coming together of 365 photographs, dance scores, reminiscences and essays from the project. Find out more and purchase the book.
