Satelliser means “to put into orbit”.
Satelliser: a dance for the gallery is a durational performance work for an intergenerational group of artist coworkers.
Over the course of the day coworkers cycle through the layered labours of moving, speaking, listening and resting, holding buoyant space for conversation to emerge between each other and gallery visitors. As coworkers subtly alter their spatial configurations in response to the visitors’ movements, they play with the orientation relationships between performance, visitor and space and the kinds of conversations these can support.
The ongoing Satelliser project was selected for touring with CONTINUOUS Network in 2020, and developed through discursive online rehearsals across 5 time zones and multiple lockdowns. Satelliser was performed at BALTIC CCA and Turner Contemporary in 2021 and joins Nottdance 2022 in a studio format with local and long standing coworkers in conversation.
Arabella Stanger, Emilyn Claid, Janine Harrington, Katye Coe, Natifah White, Ngozi “N/A” Oparah, Nicola Carter, Sally Doughty, Shivaangee Agrawal will be Satelliser‘s coworkers at Nottdance 2022.
This is an unfolding conversational and movement practice relaxed in presentation. The conversation will reflect the speakers’ interests and life experiences and is not limited in scope or theme but will be modulated according to who is in the room. Visitors are invited to join the conversation, leave and return at will.
Suitable for all.
Durational conversation will take the lead of the Satelliser co-workers, so parental discretion is advised.
Booking for this event will close Friday 7 October, 10am.
